Здравствуйте, уважаемые читатели!
День 11 августа отмечен в календаре города Ростова-на-Дону черным цветом. 80 лет назад в этот день фашистами было совершено преступление против мирных жителей города невероятного масштаба. В Змиевский балке было расстреляно и умерщвлено по разным источникам от 27 до 30 тысяч человек. Это место самого массового в России уничтожения еврейского населения. Змиевскую Балку, по меткому выражению Евгения Евтушенко, называют «Бабьего Яра сестра».
В день трагедии, 11 августа, сотрудники библиотеки имени А.И. Куприна провели час памяти «Бабьего Яра сестра» для посетителей МБУ «ЦСОН Октябрьского района г. Ростова-на-Дону». Хронология событий августа 1942 года не могла прозвучать без воспоминаний свидетелей страшных событий. Слова зачитывались из книги В. Смирнова «Ростов под тенью свастики». Трагизм событий наиболее сильно передавали стихотворные строки Ев. Евтушенко и А. Зусмана.
В завершении встречи была проведена виртуальная экскурсия по мемориалу «Памяти жертв фашизма» в Змиевской балке. Прозвучал отрывок из 6-й симфонии П.И. Чайковского, который услышали посетители при открытии памятника погибшим в Змиевской балке 9 мая 1975 года.
Много прошло лет, не все имена людей, уничтоженных на этом месте, известны. Поисковая работа продолжается. Но главное – продолжается память о погибших, наша скорбь и понимание, что ничего подобного никогда не должно произойти.

Today, I went to the beachfront with my children.
